Continuation of the Dnepr Program
|
The President of the Russian Federation Mr. Dmitry Medvedev made a decision in favor of continuation of implementation of the joint Russian-Ukrainian program on the use of the retired RS-20 (SS-18) ICBMs for the commercial spacecraft launches (Dnepr Program).
Mr. M.Yu. Zurabov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Ukraine, informed Ukrainian Prime Minister Mr. N. Ya. Azarov about the above decision on 19 January 2012.

Dnepr Program
During 1992-2003 timeframe, a team of Russian and Ukrainian companies together with the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) were involved in developing a commercial space launch system based on the technology of the SS-18 ICBMs being withdrawn from service.
